I had the pleasure of joining Hardie Tankerlsey and Jesus Trevino on the “Social Life of Convergence” panel for the NALIP 2012 Conference. David James did an excellent job of moderating the panel and led us through a lively discussion ranging from copyright infringement to participatory entertainment to the future of digital media.
I was thrilled to be invited by Esther Lim to join her and J. Craig Williams at this year’s SXSW conference to discuss collaborative entertainment, multi-platform interactive engagement, and how to bridge creatives and audiences. We curated a lot of the content, including an audio slidecast and the twitter stream.
In a kind of preview of my SXSW panel with Esther Lim and J. Craig Williams, the three of us had a half-hour chat (along with Lawyer2Lawyer co-host Bob Ambrogi) about transmedia, storyworlds, fandom, participatory entertainment, shared IP, and more.

I was honored to serve on the StoryWorld Conference Council, especially as this was the debut year for the conference. I had the pleasure of working with Alison Norrington and the other Council members over the past year, and I moderated/hosted three panels. I journeyed to San Diego on October 12th for my first CTIA Mobile Conference, where I had the pleasure of moderating a panel on transmedia as part of a 3-hour session hosted by the Producer’s Guild of America. As it turned out, all of the panelists were also members of Transmedia L.A.!
Brian Seth Hurst of The Opportunity Management Company was kind enough to interview me for his “StoryCentered” video column at InteractiveTV Today. We chatted about – what else? – participatory entertainment and fandom.
On August 18, 2011, I had the pleasure of being invited to speak at a Whitewater Films Roundtable, which was moderated by IndieWire’s Dana Harris. The topic was transmedia and indie film, and I as thrilled to share the table with fellow Transmedia LA members Ben Rock and resident fanthropologist Kristen Olson.
