First, thanks to Techdirt for not letting this issue die.
Here’s another post underscoring the bizarre approach the U.S. Government is taking in working through a new treaty meant to deal with issues involving copyright and intellectual property (ACTA).
Essentially 27 other countries and countless individuals from several industries are privy to treaty discussions and documentation that the U.S. Government has labeled off-limits to the American Public due to matters of “national security.”
Based on how the negotiations have gone, it’s hard to draw any conclusion other than the lobbyists are working with the government to ensure their needs are present in the treaty and the general public is being essentially locked out of the process.
