NaNoWriMo 2009 – Day 5

Day 5 stats:

Min. Daily Average Word Count: 1,667

Word Count Goal: 2,500

Actual Word Count: 3,219

Daily Word Count Score (words in excess of min daily average): +1,552

Total Word Count Score: 11,954

Chapters complete: 5

Running out of pre-plotted chapter breakdowns, but also seeing some expansion opportunities for act two. Dropping in world building elements feels like an easier thing to naturally integrate into the story. Doubt there will be much writing tomorrow, so I’m glad to have exceeded my word count goal for today.

Mia is definitely coming into focus as a character. Anticipating a lot of rewriting, but feeling better about her inner conflicts being identified as driving motivators for her actions. Also finding the town of Korihana coming to life – it’s a lot more interesting of a place than I first imagined.

This is my (un)scientific, (non-)comprehensive, and (not at all) objective overview of the rise of collaborative storytelling: how we (more or less) got here, and where we may (kinda sorta) be heading. No particular axe to grind or agenda to sell, just my observations after watching this space for a few years. Buckle up, this […]
