Still wallowing in act two plotting. Diverted some time to stringing together a rough plot outline to help shake loose some ideas. Even played around with the climax of the story, which was fun, because it brought up some interesting ideas to drop into the earlier acts. Also noodled on some of the background events happening in the town of Korihana, which helped inform both some of the things Mia is reacting to when she visits the town, plus the motives and motivations of the town residents.

Lesson learned: when stuck, jump forward or backward and write a little. Or step way back from the characters and explore the environment for inspiration.

The great news is that lots of really interesting stuff is getting generated for Runes of Gallidon. King Ishi is shaping up to be quite the isolationist. Might he have his eyes on extending his power base…?

On a technical note, Jungle Drive cloud storage + Liquid Story writing app is proving to be a winning combo. No USB data keys, no emailing file versions back and forth. The only challenge will be traveling this weekend and trying to work on my Asus eee 1000 netbook, “Blue Ant.” The 10″ screen just isn’t large enough to make working in Liquid Story practical. May have to resort to emailing myself writing updates and incorporating them when I’m back at a laptop/desktop.

A History and Future of Collaborative Storytelling

This is my (un)scientific, (non-)comprehensive, and (not at all) objective overview of the rise of collaborative storytelling: how we (more or less) got here, and where we may (kinda sorta) be heading. No particular axe to grind or agenda to sell, just my observations after watching this space for a few years. Buckle up, this […]
