Today was a very writerly day indeed. I was able to write on both flights back home, and the story really began to tell itself at times. A few surprises, both in terms of plotting and characterization, emerged, and I found the word count mounting up at a shockingly fast rate. I couldn’t believe how much I had written when I did my last word count check before touching down at LAX.

Finally managed to throw some serious challenges at Mia, and I poked at some pretty large story elements that have large, world-wide impacts on Gallidon regarding the established mythos (mostly revisionist history perspectives rather than contradictions).

Today was the most excited I’ve been, both because I was able to make up lost writing ground, but also because I could sense that I getting closer to having Mia be able to leave Korihana and meet Sora and Kenji (in preparation for the third act). Mia’s departure isn’t feeling as artificially stalled or forced as before.

And the seeds for a sequel are already taking root…!

This is my (un)scientific, (non-)comprehensive, and (not at all) objective overview of the rise of collaborative storytelling: how we (more or less) got here, and where we may (kinda sorta) be heading. No particular axe to grind or agenda to sell, just my observations after watching this space for a few years. Buckle up, this […]
