Having gotten past the mid-point of NaNo, I’m feeling better about meeting the target goal. Writing is coming more easily now, as I have gotten a lot more comfortable with pushing through scenes knowing that I will have to go back and re-write much of my earlier writing. Though the words are coming more easily, it’s hard to ignore the growing list of (sometimes major) rewrites I want to implement after completing the first draft.

Did not get as much writing done as I wanted, but feeling okay with what I managed to complete. It could be because I officially got Mia out of Korihana (putting her in direct conflict with another character that was originally going to be a trusted ally – not sure I’m happy with the turn of trust, but I won’t be able to say for sure until the draft is done).

Clearly pushing close to the third act, and I have managed to get Mia in Pine Peak, where she will meet Kenji and Sora. Pondering whether I can (or should) maintain a single POV for Mia’s novel. It could be interesting to throw Sora and Kenji’s POV’s into the mix, although doing so makes me wonder whether I should introduce other POV’s earlier in the Mia novel (say, Kasuga and Taimu).

Futures of Entertainment 4 Conference officially starts tomorrow – will definitely get some great ideas about transmedia storytelling but not sure about writing!

I keep hearing about everyone making money from self-publishing, and everywhere I go, someone’s trying to sell me their book.” “I see,” the doctor says, nodding. “So what seems to be the problem?” “Well, I figure if everyone’s writing a book, I should […]

A History and Future of Collaborative Storytelling

This is my (un)scientific, (non-)comprehensive, and (not at all) objective overview of the rise of collaborative storytelling: how we (more or less) got here, and where we may (kinda sorta) be heading. No particular axe to grind or agenda to sell, just my observations after watching this space for a few years. Buckle up, this […]
