Audio from “Designing Open Storyworlds” panel at StoryWorld 2012 Conference

StoryWorld 2012 is over, but the value generated there continues to echo forward thanks to all the folks who tweeted, blogged, posted, and curated. Especially Anthony Torres, who snagged an audio recording of the panel I moderated, “Designing Open Storyworlds” (big thanks, Anthony)!

I was joined by three talented and experienced storytellers who kindly shared their time and thoughts:

Chuck Wendig
Josh Sawyer
James Waugh

The panel attempted to explore design considerations for worlds meant to hold more than one story, whether it be a franchise, a transmedia property, or a multi-medium experience. Truly, a daunting task, but the panelists stepped right up and delivered an amazing amount of ideas, suggestions, and warnings based on their own experiences.

Thanks again to the panelists and to Anthony!

[please excuse the noise at the very beginning of the audio – my simian-based audio engineering talents were not up to the task of removing the erroneous noises; and it’s just a quick bio about me and my work, so you aren’t missing much!]

Don’t wait for my next blog post.

I’ll deliver some daily goodness straight to your inbox:

A writer walks into a doctor’s office. “You gotta help me, doc. I keep hearing about everyone making money from self-publishing, and everywhere I go, someone’s trying to sell me their book.” “I see,” the doctor says, nodding. “So what seems to be the problem?” “Well, I figure if everyone’s writing a book, I should […]

A History and Future of Collaborative Storytelling

This is my (un)scientific, (non-)comprehensive, and (not at all) objective overview of the rise of collaborative storytelling: how we (more or less) got here, and where we may (kinda sorta) be heading. No particular axe to grind or agenda to sell, just my observations after watching this space for a few years. Buckle up, this […]
